Why we collect personal information:
We collect personal information for many different reasons related to the running of BIBA. The three main purposes are: first, if you are or apply to be a member, second if you (or someone on your behalf) registers for one of our events, and third if you ask us to send you any publication or other information, for example, if you register to receive recruitment alerts.

How we use and share your information
If you are a BIBA member we will use your personal information to administer your membership. Active members are listed on BIBA’s website in the Find a Broker area, which anyone can search by area or speciality. Member details may also be disclosed to callers to the “Find a Broker Service”.
If you have asked us to send you any guides, documentation, email alerts or other information we will use your details to send this to you.
If you have registered for a BIBA event, we will use your details to send you the relevant information pack, and to include your name on the delegate list (which is available to other delegates) and for other purposes related to our running of the event.
We also use third party companies to help us provide our services. These companies will only use your personal data under our strict instruction.
We reserve the right to share your personal information with a third party without your consent where it is permitted by law, including if:
â€¢ the disclosure is required by law or by a regulator with authority over us or you, such as where there is a court order, statutory obligation or FSA request; and/or
â€¢ we believe that such disclosure is necessary in order to assist in the prevention or detection of any criminal action (including fraud) or is otherwise in the overriding public interest.
In the unlikely event that we transfer your personal data outside the EEA we will ensure that an adequate level of protection is in place to protect your personal information.
Where you have agreed, we will send you details of BIBA programs, products, activities and events which are run by us or by one of our partners. We may share your information with our partner so they can provide you with those details directly.
BIBA is committed to only sending you marketing communications that you have clearly expressed an interest in receiving. BIBA is committed to keeping your personal information secure. BIBA keeps all personal information in a secure server. We also have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities.
While we strive to protect your personal information, due to the nature of the internet we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us. With this in mind, we urge you to take every precaution to protect your personal information while you are online.
How long we keep your personal information
We only keep personal information for so long as is reasonably necessary. For example, if you are a member, we will keep your details for the period of your membership and for 6 years afterwards, to deal with any ongoing claims or complaints.
Updating your personal information
You are entitled to see the information we hold about you and to update any inaccuracies. We are entitled to charge a Â£10 fee for providing you with a copy of your personal information. If you would like to review or update your personal information please Contact Us.
BIBA also collects IP addresses of those browsing our sites as a way of tracking site usage. We do not track any individual person’s activities using IP addresses. Instead, we use this information solely to determine the number of times browsers view a page of our site and to aggregate information that allows us to continuously improve the quality of our website.
Pixel tags (also called clear gifs or web bugs) are used to track who is reading a web page or e-mail, when, and from what computer.
They provide us with information about your interaction with our email messages (if you receive messages in html format) and to record some of the pages you consequently visit on our website.
We use this information so we can provide you with information tailored to your needs and interests, better plan our future campaigns and upgrading visitor information used in reporting statistics.
